Modern Family was renewed for a seventh season on May 7, 2015, by ABC.[1] It was announced that the show will be recasting Joe, the son of Jay and Gloria, who has been played by Pierce Wallace for the previous two seasons.[4] On August 7, 2015, the role of Joe had been recast by actor Jeremy Maguire.[5] The table read for the premiere happened on August 3, 2015, being confirmed by Sofia Vergara.[6] Filming for the seventh season began shortly after the table read.[7]

The seventh season received mixed reviews from critics. Kyle Fowle from The A.V. Club gave half of the season's episodes a B- or less. The middle third of the season was more warmly received, especially the episodes "Playdates," "Spread Your Wings," and "Clean for a Day." The three episodes received a B+, A- and B+, respectively.

The Modern Family Season 7 Premiere, "Summer Lovin" took us through the summer roller coaster ride of Andy and Haley's relationship. In last season's finale "American Skyper", Phil (Ty Burrell) was left powerless in trying to tell Haley (Sarah Hyland) that Andy (Guest Star Adam DeVine) has feelings for her. The show started off with Phil finally reaching Haley and revealing that both she and Andy have feelings for one another.Watch the Season 7 Premiere "Summer Lovin"

Haley and Claire (Julie Bowen) go to the beach where Andy is planning to propose. Before Haley tries to stop Andy, Claire pulls her aside to ask if she's at the same point in her life as Andy. Claire has been helping Haley cope. Alex (Ariel Winter) and Sanjay can't get enough of each other as they prepare for their first year of college. Phil decides to take the family to a movie to help get Haley out of the house. While at the mall, Dillon cross paths with the Dunphy family. Haley instantly picks up where she left off with him.

Who else is ready for fall TV's return? Me too. And I bet you if you're a die-hard Modern Family fan you can't wait to see what's going to happen during its upcoming seventh season. Lucky for you, Modern Family actor Jesse Tyler Ferguson is offering up scoop about the new season. If you don't recall, Season 6 ended with Cameron finally learning that Mitchell quit his job. So, will Mitch find a new job? Or is he going to discover a new passion? Well, Ferguson promises lots of fun episodes and hilarious moments surrounding Mitch's career search. He tells Bustle, "Cameron is sort of left with the burden of bringing home the bacon, so to speak."

Where does that leave Mitch? Let's just say he is pursuing all job avenues. "My character starts to get a little stir crazy and kind of goes off on a tangent of trying to paint to occupy some of his free time and tap into his artistic side," he reveals. "Then, sort of realizes there's no money in that. Then, starts picking up random jobs here and there. At one point, [Mitchell's] actually coaching Lily's soccer team, but yet [he has] no knowledge of how the game of soccer is played. The writers are giving me a lot of really fun stuff to work with this season, so far."

From superhero shows to family comedies to Shondaland, May means saying goodbye to almost everything that made you cancel weekday plans in winter (No one believed that you "have plans" every Wednesday at the exact same time as Broad City). Catch their finales on Hulu the next day, then use your new free time to catch up on full seasons you missed.
